Chapel Kid Cafe Meals are central to the work of the Chapel. Over 90% of the young people qualify for free or reduced priced meals at school, an indicator of significant economic hardship. During the school year, each child is given a snack and a full dinner. During the summer program breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack are served.
The meal program is supported by the West Virginia Department of Education Child and Adult Care Feeding Program, the Summer Food Service Program, the Bonner Foundation, and contributing churches and civic groups. Each year approximately 19,000 complete meals and 16,000 snacks are served in the Chapel's programs. All services are offered to young people and their families without regard to race, gender, religion or background. No fees are charged for services.
